New Kent County Public Schools would like to inform families that the Virginia Department of Education’s Annual Resources Update for Serving Students with Sensory Disabilities (Revised October 2025) is now available on our Student Services Resources webpage.

As required by the Code of Virginia (§ 22.1-217.01), this annual update provides essential information about educational and support services available to students who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, visually impaired, or deaf-blind. The update includes guidance documents, state agency contacts, technical assistance centers, and professional education programs across Virginia.

Families are encouraged to explore resources from the Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind, the Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and the Virginia Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired, among others. These services support student success in school and the community and promote accessible communication and learning environments.

Printed copies and alternate formats are available upon request. Call the NKCPS Office of Student Services at (804) 966-8525 or email HERE. Administrators and teachers are encouraged to share these resources with families of students identified with sensory disabilities.

For questions regarding these resources, please contact Amy Scott, Coordinator of Sensory Disabilities and Supports at VDOE, at (804) 418-4724 or Amy.Scott@doe.virginia.gov.
