On December 12th, New Kent County Public Schools celebrated four outstanding students who received the New Kent Sheriff's Office Kip Kephart Foundation Citizenship Award, which recognizes strong character and meaningful contributions to school communities.

The New Kent Sheriff's Office presents the annual award to students who demonstrate exceptional citizenship qualities. School staff nominate one eighth grade student from New Kent Middle School and one fifth grade student from each of the division's three elementary schools: George W. Watkins Elementary School, New Kent Elementary School, and Quinton Elementary School.

This year's recipients were honored at ceremonies held at their respective schools, attended by their families, New Kent County Sheriff Lee Bailey, Kip Kephart Foundation President Steve Rula, school principals, and NKCPS Superintendent Dr. Brian J. Nichols. Each winner received a check from the foundation, a certificate from the Sheriff's Office, and their names were added to a permanent plaque displayed in their school building.
