Free Summer Nutrition Programs Available for Kids Through SUN Meals

New Kent County Public Schools is pleased to share information about the SUN (Summer Nutrition) Meals program, which provides free, nutritious meals and snacks for children and teens during the summer months. Through this program, every child aged 18 and under can enjoy meals at no cost while school is out—no application required.

Program Overview

Meals are served at a variety of convenient locations including schools, parks, and neighborhood centers. Some rural communities also offer SUN Meals To-Go, and eligible school-aged children may qualify for additional summer nutrition benefits through SUN Bucks.

How to Find Meal Sites

Families can easily find local meal sites by using the USDA Summer Meals for Kids Site Finder, provided by the Virginia Department of Education's Office of School and Community Nutrition Programs.

Simply visit the site finder to search for locations near you. The site is updated regularly throughout the summer to include new options.
