New Kent County Public Schools is pleased to announce the start of the FY26 budget planning process, which offers valuable opportunities for community members to provide input that will help shape the district’s budget for the upcoming school year. NKCPS Superintendent Dr. Brian J. Nichols and Chief Administrative Officer Haynie Morgheim will host a series of budget forums with division staff and an additional forum specifically for community members. All are welcome to participate and share their recommendations and priorities for the district.
Community input is an essential part of NKCPS’s budget planning process. By voicing ideas and suggestions, families, students, and other community members can directly influence the development of the Superintendent’s Recommended Budget, aligning it with the priorities and needs of our New Kent community.
The FY25 budget is set at $50,596,117, with 84.8% of the General Fund allocated to salaries and benefits, underscoring our district’s dedication to investing in staff who serve New Kent County students. The per-pupil expenditure is budgeted at $14,422. As we look ahead to FY26, NKCPS is committed to ensuring that resources are allocated to support educational excellence, staff compensation, and operational needs.
