NKCPS Title I
What is Title I?
Title I is a federally funded program whose purpose is to ensure that all children have a fair, equitable and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and to raise achievement for all students.
Title I, Part A provides financial assistance through state educational agencies to school divisions and public schools with high numbers or percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic content and achievement standards. Schools are identified for Title I funds based on the percentage of students eligible for free or reduced-price meals. Currently, we operate using a school wide program, so all elementary students in an eligible Title I school may receive academic services.
Title I provides funding for the following:
Additional staff;
Family engagement opportunities;
Professional development of instructional staff;
Summer programs;
Home libraries;
Online computer programs; and
Instructional materials and supplies.
Title I programs aim to ensure that all students have access to the following opportunities:
Meaningful, authentic and rigorous learning experiences;
Collaboration, critical and creative thinking, and problem solving.
Family engagement to enhance student achievement.
